Building a scalable design system for modern investment platforms

Designing the foundation for a scalable, white-label investment platform. As Lead UX Designer, I transformed a cluttered enterprise interface into a modular design system, enabling faster feature delivery, clearer navigation, and consistent user experiences across clients.

Impact 💥

Seccl Pro had a powerful backend, but its UI couldn’t keep pace. I joined as Lead Designer to re-architect the experience, introduce a modular design system, and set up a structure for white-labelling. Working with a junior designer, I led the end-to-end UX effort, from discovery through to rollout, enabling the product team to scale with confidence.

How did I get there?

Understanding & alignment

Facilitated workshops with stakeholders to define product vision, understand user pain points, and align on business goals.

User feedback

Conducted sessions with real users to identify friction in the current platform and validate assumptions from the team. Found that the existing structure of the product was causing confusion and impacting productivity.

Product mapping

Analysed and mapped the existing experience to visualise problem areas and prioritise architecture changes.

Designed new structure

Reorganised the navigation and information hierarchy, presenting a detailed sitemap of the improved structure.

Component design & pattern creation

Broke down key screens into reusable parts and began developing the building blocks of a scalable design system.

Delivered well-documented design patterns and UI templates to development and internal product teams for ongoing use.

Reflection 🤔

This project proved the long-term value of investing in a strong design system early. Watching the internal team, including non-designers, confidently prototype new features with speed and consistency has been incredibly rewarding. The system is now a core part of how Seccl Pro delivers value to its clients. If I were to revisit this project, I’d explore ways to automate whitelabel theming further, but overall, this was a textbook case of how clarity, consistency, and system thinking can supercharge a product team.
